COVID QUARANTINE DIARIES

COVID QUARANTINE DIARIES

This is COVID from my meager perspective.  I in no way intend to minimalize anyone else’s experience nor the seriousness of this virus.  I am so fortunate that I am vaccinated, it is because of this that I am NOT seriously sick.  (I also realize that some with breakthrough cases do become very ill). Both Brenda and I have been very careful and will continue to not become complacent.  Again, this is only my personal experience.

DAY ONE: (PRE- TEST)

On Friday, I was sniffily.  I attributed it to allergies, I get them around this time of year, and it was really really windy and I was riding my scooter, so thought that’s what it was.

Saturday started feeling really crappy, body aches. which I hate and they turn me into a giant baby!  Brenda will attest to this.  When she is sick, she sleeps.  Brenda is an EXCELLENT sleeper.  I. Am. Not.  If I’m really sick, I tend to lay on the couch and moan in a rather dramatic sick moany voice, sometimes I’ll weep quietly while doing a small task, like while brushing my teeth.  I am a baby.

We have not had a decent thermometer in the house since, oh, probably the early 2000’s.  I think the one we have works sometimes, by jamming it harshly under your tongue, IT HAS TO STAY UNDER YOU TONGUE!  And then waiting, sometimes for oh, seven or eight minutes.  And then I think I hear a beep, and then I try and read the numbers which are super small and there’s no backlight, so I can’t really tell, and who knows, this could be a reading from some illness back in 2002?  I also think it’s like a watch that needs a new battery and flashes random numbers.

At any rate, Brenda went and got a new thermometer.  It is incredible!  Seriously, you push a small button, it flashes pretty colors, and then say LO when it’s ready.  I don’t get the LO thing, but oh well.  I popped it in under my tongue, readying to shove it in really good when BEEP!  What?  It’s ready?  What’s is say? What’s it say?  101 degrees.  Huh?  That’s not good.  I’m gonna try it again.  BEEP 101.  Well, shit.  Just a cold, or allergies.  So, I took some Tylenol and some of Roo’s allergy meds, laid on the couch, moaned and wept quietly.
