Workshops & Classes

I’m funny. I love to make people laugh—it’s my favorite thing. Whether I’m performing, leading a workshop, or teaching a class, humor is always at the center of it. Over the years, I’ve created more than 50 original characters. Honestly, some days I like them better than myself because they’re stronger, smarter, and usually know what to say faster than I do.

I don’t do this work alone. My wife, Brenda Lucy, and I are a team—and together, we’re hilarious. She’s co-created numerous original one-woman shows with me, including the long-running Letters to Santa franchise at Bryant Lake Bowl, which has been making audiences laugh (and cry a little) for over two decades.

My workshops and classes aren’t about putting people on the spot or turning everyone into a performer. They’re about using humor, improv and storytelling to connect, think differently, communicate, and express yourself—all while having a genuinely good time.

I am an educator.  I truly love teaching. My career as a unique educator spans over 30 years  I use improv, theater games, storytelling and life. My mission is to meet any objective through my art. I’ve worked with diverse populations of all ages. I have created original work with young people through theatre and storytelling. I have worked with educators, professionals, individuals needing public speaking coaching, and many schools as an artist in residence.

I’m not a stand up comedian, I can’t tell jokes to save my life.  Seriously I was kidnapped once and they said I could have been released by telling a good ole dad joke and I couldn’t, so my parents had to pay thousands of dollars.  Actually my parents did pay thousands of dollars; but it was to send me through rehab.  But it kind of felt like a kidnapping. Just kidding. It is only because of my parents that I was able to get clean and sober, which changed my life and is why I am able to do the work that I do. I am open and willing to share my story of recovery in order to help others. Like everything in my life, I didn’t do it alone and as a result, I have 39 years of sobriety.

I’m a filmmaker.  I’ve made a bunch of really cool films. These are short films featuring my signature characters Gloria and Hillderina (a part of “Letters To Santa” every holiday) I created a documentary about the triathlon journey for Brenda and me called “Finding Your Cape”, which received Best of the Midwest Invitational award for Wisconsin Community Media. I’ve also created short films for the MNKino Film Score Festival. Go to my YouTube channel to see more! https://www.youtube.com/@insideoutunderwear_IOU

I am a triathlete, which means I’ve won two Olympic metals. That’s a lie. I’ve never competed in the Olympics. I have however completed two and a half Half Iron Man races with my wife. (One I didn’t finish due to illness)

A Half Iron Man = 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and a half marathon….All at once bia-tchees!

In October 2024 my wife and I became Ultra Marathoners. We ran the Fire tower 50K race in St. Croix State Park. And we are training to do it again this year!
